Culver City Appoints Lisa Soghor New Chief Financial Officer

The City of Culver City is pleased to announce Lisa Soghor has assumed the position of Chief Financial Officer. “I’m excited to join the City of Culver City staff and serve our diverse community. I hope to continue to expand the Finance Department’s tradition of financial excellence and transparency,” says Lisa. Lisa assumes this role following the promotion of Onyx Jones to Assistant City Manager.

Lisa is a seasoned professional who has more than 25 years of public service experience. Most recently, she served as the Assistant City Manager for the City of Malibu. During her tenure in Malibu, Lisa assisted in the growth of the City’s General Fund undesignated reserves from $20 million to $39 million; coordinated $25 million in debt issuance; aided in the City’s $42 million, 29-acre land acquisition; and helped maintain the City’s AA+/AAA investment bond rating. Her fiscal management enabled Malibu to weather the economic stresses of both the 2018 Woolsey Fire and the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

Prior to working for the City of Malibu, Lisa served as the Deputy Executive Officer and Chief of Developed Resources for the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority since 1995. She has an extensive background in senior management, administration, finance, human resources, capital projects, facility management and environmental issues. Beilenson Visitor Center, Vista Hermosa Natural Park, Pacoima Wash Natural Park, Marsh Park, and the Los Angeles River Greenway.

A Los Angeles native, Lisa holds a Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University and a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania. Under Lisa’s leadership, for the past five years, the City of Malibu has consistently received the Government Finance Officers Association Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for Malibu’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report. She is also the recipient of the 2013 Federal Energy and Water Management Award from the US Department of Energy and the 2014 Award of Excellence from the Los Angeles Business Council.
