City Council Action Item Will Change Requirements for Municipal Appointments

After previous discussions, the City Council has placed an Action Item on the agenda tonight “to add Equity Policy Language, and Allow Appointment of Non-Registered Voters, and Minors Age 16 and Older…” to change the city’s policy in regard to committees. commissions and boards.

With an organized push to allow people 16 and up to vote in municipal elections by the group Vote16 Culver City, the reach toward getting more minors involved was discussed in several council meetings in 2019.

Tonight’s agenda item will, if passed, open the door to 16 year old serving in municipal government in various capacities.

The City Council will meet on Jan. 27, 2020, at 7 pm in the Mike Balkman Council Chambers at City Hall, 9770 Culver Blvd. Culver City, CA. 90232.
