On November 21, 2019, the board members of Friends of the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center were installed for the coming year, and remembrances were offered for the late Dr. Sarah Carpenter, who had been a mainstay of the program. The Sandy Segal Youth Health Center, located on the campuses of Culver City Middle School and Culver City High School, provides free, quality health care for hundreds of Culver City youth each year, along with supportive services and health education benefiting entire families. Services are provided in collaboration with the Venice Family Clinic, for both the physical medicine and the mental health component, and volunteers. The SSYHC is a safe place where teens can speak with someone about whatever is on their minds and get the care they need.
The board presented a plaque honoring the late past president Dr. Sarah Carpenter to her husband Bob (left) and son, Daniel Newman. The plaque, which will be installed in the Center, reads:

Gifted physician, advocate for adolescent health and an inspiring leader as the President of the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center. As a physician volunteer, Sarah helped facilitate the ongoing partnership with the Venice Family Clinic ensuring the continuation of services offered to our students. Dr. Sarah Carpenter leaves a legacy of kindness, generosity, volunteerism, compassion and service. 2019
