The Best of Everything – Jonathan Weiss

If you were to walk around downtown Culver City at the turn of the new millennium, you would have found a dilapidated and run-down Mexican restaurant and a chain Italian joint down the block with tumbleweeds blowing down the sidewalk. A mere dozen years later, Culver City has become a mecca for patrons of the arts and foodies who know their way around a good IPA beer and a nicely presented foie gras.

Continuing with this more recent tradition of supporting arts, culture and design, the 18th Annual Los Angeles Antiques Art + Design Show will be coming to Culver City beginning on October 9th. The five-day event will be held at the Three Labs event space in the arts-oriented Hayden Tract area of Culver City at 8461 Warner Drive.

This five-day show will kick off on Wednesday, October 9th with an opening-night party benefiting the Decorative Arts and Design Council of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art. There will be cocktails, music and gourmet food during the opening night festivities, as well as an opportunity for early buying of all the antiques and artworks on display.

One of the perennial favorites for art and antique patrons of this show will be the amazing collection of 20th Century advertising posters from the Berkeley-based Vintage European Posters. This amazing collection of color-filled original print posters were printed for advertising purposes, and cover every imaginable topic from theatre, to opera to travel transportation and more.

Elizabeth Norris is the genial and supremely knowledgeable proprietor of this wonderful collection and is always happy to help the novice buyer, as well as the well-heeled art collector. One should not miss this opportunity to see this wonderful collection of art and antiques that will be on hand for this show.
