In celebration of National Health Center Week, August 5-11, Venice Family Clinic will host a free community resource fair on Wednesday, August 8th from 10am to 2pm at the Irma Colen Family Center in Culver City.
Venice Family Clinic is a federally-qualified health center (FQHC) that provides accessible, quality health care to people in need on the Westside of Los Angeles. From a small storefront operation established in 1970 by Founder Phillip Rossman, M.D., and Co-Founder Mayer B. Davidson, M.D., Venice Family Clinic now serves over 25,000 patients each year at eight sites in Venice, Santa Monica, Mar Vista, Inglewood and Culver City. Named in honor of longtime Venice Family Clinic supporter Irma Colen, Venice Family Clinic’s Irma Colen Health Center emphasizes the needs of women and children through services including primary care, dental care, mental health services and public health insurance enrollment.
The community resource fair will present information on Venice Family Clinic health care and dental services and will feature representatives from local community groups, government agencies and other non-profit organizations. Venice Family Clinic volunteers will offer free blood pressure screenings, nutritional information and body mass index (BMI) testing. Breastfeeding education, kid-friendly activities, prizes and information from community organizations will also be available.
