The City is pleased to present the Summer Sunset music series on Thursday evenings at 7 PM in Town Plaza at the Culver Steps. Mariachi Arcoiris de Los Angeles will be filling downtown with fantastic mariachi music on July 30 and you will want to get a seat!
Mariachi Arcoiris is the world’s first LGBTQ+ mariachi. A unique and dynamic ensemble representing the traditions of the rich culture of Mexico, this group was created as a haven for mariachi musicians who identify as LGBTQ+ to come together and perform traditional Mexican regional music in an otherwise “machista” and discriminating subculture of the mariachi world.
Led by director Carlos Samaniego, Mariachi Arco•Iris de Los Angeles performs its repertoire to suit the LGBTQ+ community while also introducing beautiful Mexican folk music to new audiences.
The band is so unique, a recorded interview from NPR of this ground-breaking ensemble has been archived in the U.S. Library of Congress.
Seating is limited and available on a first come first served basis for view of the stage.
Small picnic blankets and low back chairs are welcome in designated areas as capacity allows. We invite you to explore our numerous restaurants in and around the Culver Steps! Alcoholic beverages and smoking are not permitted at the concerts.
