Mayor Freddy Puza officially launched his re-election campaign today on June 8, 2026. Sending out a statement, Puza offered his thoughts on re-running for his council seat.
“Culver City is a remarkable place, no, OUR remarkable place.
It’s a city where creativity thrives, where neighbors show up for one another, where small businesses help define our identity, and where residents care deeply about the future of their community. Every day, I am reminded how fortunate I am to call Culver City home and to serve as your Mayor, and why I’m proud to announce that I’m running for re-election!
Over the past several years, we’ve accomplished a great deal together.
During my time on council, I’ve taken important steps to address affordability by supporting affordable housing production, strengthening renter protections, expanding access to legal assistance for tenants, and advancing innovative approaches to housing stability and homelessness.
I’ve worked to make City Hall more transparent and accountable through long-term financial planning, public budget engagement, and a renewed focus on making government more accessible and responsive to residents.
Together, I worked to make sure we were invested in community safety and quality of life by expanding support for mental health and domestic violence response programs, increasing resources for children and seniors, protecting vulnerable communities, and improving the public spaces that residents rely on every day.
I pushed to make sure we strengthened support for local businesses, entrepreneurs, and creative industries through microgrants, fee relief efforts, film industry advocacy, and initiatives designed to help Culver City’s economy continue to grow and thrive.
Most importantly, together through all over this we’ve continued building a community that reflects our shared values of inclusion, innovation, opportunity, and civic engagement.
As we look ahead, I believe Culver City’s best days are still in front of us.
There is tremendous opportunity to build on the progress we’ve made and continue creating a city where people can afford to stay, families can put down roots, small businesses can succeed, and residents can feel confident that their local government is working for them.
That means continuing to focus on affordability, smart and transparent government, investing in our infrastructure and public spaces that bring our community together, supporting our local businesses, and ensuring every resident feels safe, welcome, and valued in Culver City.
The challenges we face are real, but so is the talent, creativity, and determination of the people who call Culver City home. Time and again, our community has shown that when we come together, there is very little we cannot accomplish.
I remain optimistic about our future and grateful for the opportunity to work alongside so many dedicated residents, community leaders, and neighbors who care deeply about this city.
Together, we can continue building a Culver City that is welcoming, vibrant, sustainable, and full of opportunity for everyone, and I look forward to seeing you out there on the campaign trail!”
