Jazz Hands for Autism to Honor Bailey, Grillo with Trailblazer Awards

Jazz Hands For Autism celebrates its 25th Jazz Hands Concert Series on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at Playa Studios in Culver City, with a night dedicated to two extraordinary honorees.

Nine-time GRAMMY Award-winning artist Philip Bailey, co-lead vocalist of Earth, Wind & Fire, will receive JHFA’s WayMaker Award for his decade of hands-on involvement with the organization, from masterclasses with JHFA’s autistic students to guest-judging their talent showcases. The evening features an intimate fireside conversation with Mr. Bailey alongside the formal award presentation.

Emmy-winning filmmaker Janet Grillo, the mother of an adult autistic son and a pioneering voice in neurodiversity storytelling, will be honored with JHFA’s Trailblazer Award for her groundbreaking work amplifying autistic experiences through film.

The evening begins with a 5:00 PM VIP reception featuring a red carpet, followed by a 5:30 PM fireside chat with Mr. Bailey, the concert at 6:00 PM with live performances by JHFA’s neurodivergent musicians, and a closing dessert reception. Culver City Mayor Freddy Puza and leaders from the music industry, education, and the neurodivergent artist community will be in attendance.
