Lace up, show up, and start your journey into vintage, velvet, and valor with free Screenland 5K workouts beginning Sunday, Jan. 11, at 3 pm at Culver City High School track. More sessions to prepare you for the 10th annual race will be held on Jan. 25, Feb. 15, and Feb. 22 at the Centaur oval. The Culver Palms YMCA helps with these one-hour workouts to support the community’s health, fitness, and wellness.
Wear comfortable clothes and running shoes, advises trainer David Winslow. Training sessions will include goal-setting, stretching, warm-ups, jogging, and cool-downs, said Winslow, a legacy Screenland 5K runner and multiple age-group marathon winner. Personal trainer Craig Schoenbaum said the workouts are designed to boost strength, flexibility, and stamina. Workshops are sponsored by Midwest Roofing.
Additional free workouts are scheduled for Jan. 25, Feb. 15, and Feb. 22. The 10th annual race will take place on Mar. 1 at Ivy Station, Culver City.
