Sepulveda Connects – Transportation Workshop Begins Design Options for Boulevard Upgrades

The rain might have kept some at home, but the crowd that turned out for the Sepulveda Connects Workshop in the Rotunda Room at the Vets Building was damp and determined. On Monday, November 17, 2025, the Culver City Transportation Department invited the community to play a game of design options that inspired some thoughtful conversations.

Creating the corridor in Culver City in four parts – Venice Boulevard to Washington Place,  Washington Place to Ballona Creek, Ballona Creek to Sawtelle Boulevard, and Sawtelle Boulevard to Centinela Avenue – people were asked to consider how to configure transit improvement around the freeway ramps, the shopping centers, restaurants and schools.

After creating a map with green tape (bike lanes) red tape (bus lanes) and using dots to highlight spots that needed particular attention, the last part of the design was the budget. We don’t win unless we can make it happen.

Diana Chang, the city’s Chief Transportation Officer, gave a detailed presentation to the council at the November 10 meeting about what was being considered. Traffic analysis and modeling is scheduled to continue through December of this year.
