Planning Commission to Discuss Hotel Jeff Extension, Bristol Parkway Housing

The next meeting of the Culver City Planning Commission on October 22, 2025, will discuss giving the Hotel Jeff an unprecedented fifth extension on a project, and approving a housing development in Fox Hills on the previous commercial site of Marshall’s department store.

The Hotel Jeff, originally proposed by Sandstone Properties in 2019, has had four extensions from the city already. The developer is asking for another extension, a maximum of five years, to build the proposed 175 room hotel at the corner of Jefferson and Slauson.

The original plans called for two levels of underground parking, which would keep the five story building under the city’s height limit of 56 feet. Currently the site of an underpopulated strip mall, the city’s re-extension of the permit will keep that site in limbo for the foreseeable future.

Also under consideration will be the project proposal for 846 units of housing on the former Marshall’s site on Bristol Parkway.

From the Fox Hills Neighborhood Association, “There are presently five projects being proposed by developers totaling almost 3000 [new] units on the south side of Slauson.”

The meeting will take place at Culver City Hall, at 7 pm.
