City Council to Address Micro-Units

With the need for more housing, every option is on the table. The next council meeting with consider the Introduction of a City-Initiated Ordinance to Amend Culver City Municipal Code (CCMC), Title 17–Zoning Code, to allow Residential Micro-Units in Multi-Family Zones and within Mixed-Use Developments where currently permitted, as a strategy to alleviate housing costs. On Monday, January 13, 2020 at 7:00 pm at City Hall – Mike Balkman Council Chambers, 9770 Culver Boulevard, Culver City, CA 90232

The meeting will be open to public comment on changing the regulations for additional housing units (ADUs, also know as granny flats) and creating a legal option to use smaller spaces as dwellings on private property.

Pursuant to CEQA Guidelines Section 15061(b)(3), the project is exempt because it can be seen with certainty that there is no possibility that the subject activity to amend the Zoning Code will have a significant effect on the environment. The activity by itself, does not result in any physical changes in the environment because it will only amend the Zoning Code to allow studio micro-units in multi-family zones and mixed- use developments and does not result in an intensification of development beyond what is already permitted in the Zoning Code.
