West Basin released the Final Environmental Impact Report for a potential ocean water desalination facility in El Segundo on October 23, 2019. The preferred site of the potential Project would be at an 8 to 13 acre footprint in the existing 33 acre industrially zoned location within the El Segundo Generating Station (ESGS) at 301 Vista del Mar in the City of El Segundo, California.
The Final EIR was released following the conclusion of four supplementary studies and drafting written responses to over 200 questions submitted during an extended 91-day Draft EIR review and public comment period that ended on June 25, 2018.
A special board meeting will be held by the West Basin Board of Directors to consider certification of the Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) for a potential ocean water desalination facility in El Segundo, California. If the Board certifies the Final EIR, it will consider whether to approve the proposed Project subject to conditions and authorize staff to continue evaluating those conditions.
