“War Wagon” Pulled from Council Agenda for August 26 Meeting

The Culver City Council will meet tonight at 7 pm, but the most controversial item on the agenda has been pulled. Item C-10 on the Consent Calendar, involving a CCPD request for an armored ‘rescue vehicle’ will no longer be presented at the meeting.

With a growing swell of community voices objecting to the request for approval of a $450,000 expenditure for a “Lenco Bearcat Rescue Vehicle,” the request has been pulled from the agenda.

Eyebrows have been raised over the sum of the expenditure, the need for the Culver City Police Department to own such equipment, and the way in which the request was put on the agenda.

While the request may come back to council, a future agenda will need to be authorized.

  1. Thanks for posting this, and for acknowledging the “growing swell of community voices” in opposition to this “War Wagon”! I am happy to be one of those voices!
