Bus Drivers Culbert and Strong Win Honors

During the June 10th Culver City Council Meeting, two Culver City Bus Operators received special recognition, the first for reasons that might seem sensible and straightforward, the second for something so wild and wonderful, you might not even know it exists.

Jonathan Culbert was awarded with the title of ‘Earl Barr Operator of the Year for 2018,’ maintaining a spotless safety record, perfect attendance and compliments from riders. among other distinguishing qualifications. Of course Culver CityBus has an ‘operator of the year’ award, just as any well run transit operation should have.

Secondly, Gardner Strong (pictured above with City Manager John Nachbar and retiring Transportation Director Art Ida) was announced as the 2019 Bus “Rodeo” Champion, competing against peers and completing a difficult course in seven minutes. Never heard of a bus rodeo? It’s a fine tradition in LA County to give bus drivers a chance to truly show off their skills and have some fun.

So the next time you get on the green bus, know that there are hidden talents and covert skills taking care of your ride. Our drivers are the best.
