This Saturday, March 30th at 2:30 pm Black Talkies on Parade presents the documentary, Lady Day: The Many Faces of Billie Holiday. Directed by Matthew Seig, the film explorers Holiday’s monumental career as one of the greatest jazz singers of all time. Former members of her band discuss working with her and rare film clips give us a glimpse of her gift. Although life ended tragically for Holiday, her unique voice and pioneering style are captured in this documentary for a new generation to discover.
The afternoon will be hosted by Executive Director Lloyd Clayton and film committee member Shawnee Gibbs will lead a discussion after the film.
