MCLM – Black Talkies to Screen “Symbol of the Unconquered”

Black Talkies on Parade presents a very special screening of the 1920 Oscar Micheaux classic, Symbol of the Unconquered on Saturday, Feb. 23rd at 2:30 pm. Micheaux holds the distinction of being the first African American to produce a feature-length film. Symbol of the Unconquered, the 4th film he made, tells the story of Eve Mason, a woman who inherits land when her grandfather dies, but faces the harsh reality of racism and greed when she tries to claim it. The film is silent, but will feature one-of-a-kind live accompaniment by Silent Movie Accompanist Cliff Retallick.

The afternoon will be hosted by Executive Director Lloyd Clayton. Please join us for an incredible afternoon of music, culture and classic cinema!
