Good News – Green Bins Get Even Greener

Culver City Residents can now place food scraps, napkins, bones, dairy products, meats, fruits, vegetables, breads, grains, coffee grounds, egg shells, soiled cardboard (like pizza boxes or paper plates), milk cartons, chopsticks, wax paper, and compostable take out containers in addition to the yard clipping that are already accepted in the residential green cans.

Unlike backyard compost bins which are for the most part vegetarian, Culver City green cans will accept meat and bones since we take your organic waste to an industrial composting facility where everything is broken down at extremely high temperatures. By placing your food waste, along with all organics, in the green can you will be diverting waste from the landfill where it would emit methane and instead have it cycle back into compost.
