After Twenty-Five Years of Performing Arts Grants, 2019 Will Be a Festival Year for Culver City

Culver City will celebrate the 25th Anniversary of its Performing Arts Grant Program with a festival of performances in 2019. The Culver City City Council has awarded a grand total of $175,196 in grants to 23 organizations which will present theatre, dance, and music performances from February through November. “We are proud to present more than 50 live performances, featuring diverse artists and disciplines, during this milestone year,” said Culver City Mayor Thomas Small..

The Performing Arts Grant Program, which was established in 1994 as part of the City’s Art in Public Places Program, offers project grants to non-profit performing arts organizations in Los Angeles County. Under the purview of the City Council and the Cultural Affairs Commission, the grant program is designed to support local arts organizations and provide Culver City residents, the business community and visitors with enriching and accessible cultural opportunities. Annually, the City Council reviews recommendations from the Cultural Affairs Commission and allocates funding for the program from the Cultural Trust Fund. The program is also generously supported by Sony Pictures Entertainment with a $15,000 contribution.
