Black Talkies – Egalite for All

Black Talkies on Parade presents the 2009 documentary Egalite For All: Toussaint Louverture and the Haitian Revolution, directed by Noland Walker. This production documents the 1791 Haitian Slave Rebellion led by General Toussaint Louverture. This successful slave revolution inspired many African slaves in the U.S. South and made Haiti the first independent Caribbean Island from Colonial power. The film uses archival images and modern recreations to explore an often-overlooked important historical rebellion. This film will be presented in English.

The afternoon will be hosted by Executive Director Lloyd Clayton and film committee member Shawnee Gibbs will lead a post screening discussion.

Screening is FREE!
