Wimpy Kid Film Fest Coming to Julian Dixon Library

13422977The Culver City Friends of the Library are concluding our very successful One Book, One City Jr. program with a gala film festival and movie screening at the Culver City Julian Dixon Library on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2 p.m.
This program, available to students grades 4-10, focused all summer on the book The Wimpy Kid Movie Diary, part of the very popular Wimpy Kid series by Jeff Kinney. Students have been doing Wimpy Kid activities, attending movie making workshops and discussing the book series. The program will culminate on Saturday, September 9 with an awards ceremony and the screening of the winning films from the film festival contest. In addition to the winning films, the recent Wimpy Kid movie, “Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul” will be shown at the library for free. There will also be more Wimpy Kid activities, a red carpet and a photo booth. Popcorn, water, red vines and pizza, courtesy of Janet and Jerry Chabola and Tower Insurance, will be provided during the films. There will also be a mini book sale, with lots of Wimpy Kid books available.
Awards will be presented to the winners of the film festival by Mayor Jeff Cooper. Come dressed for the red carpet, or as your favorite wimpy character, or dressed as yourself, but be prepared to have a great time!
