MCLM to Screen James Baldwin Doc “I Am Not Your Negro”

3IAMNOTYOURNEGRO1-master768Black Talkies On Parade presents ‘I Am Not Your Negro’ on Saturday, August 26th @ 2:30 pm. The 2017 Academy Award nominated documentary ‘I Am Not Your Negro’ for our August screening. This documentary, directed by Raoul Peck, uses the powerful words of writer James Baldwin paired with images from the Civil Rights Movement to bring to life Baldwin’s unfinished novel, Remember This House. Samuel L. Jackson narrates the movie and Harry Belaftone, Marlon Brando, Malcolm X, Ray Charles, and Joan Crawford all appear in the film’s archival footage. The documentary’s soulful soundtrack features James Brown, Nat King Cole, Lightnin Hopkins, and Kendrick Lamar.

Your afternoon host will be Lloyd Clayton, Executive Director and following the screening there will be a Q&A our speaker Shawnee Gibbs
