url3Yet another Centennial event to enjoy is the Culver City Council of PTAs’ “100 Years of Volunteering” Honorary Service Award Night. This takes place this Sunday, April 30 at the Culver City Senior Center, 4095 Overland Avenue. Attendees are invited to come dressed as your favorite decade, which is sure to add to the fun! Hors d’oeuvres and cocktails will be served starting at 6:30 p.m. and the Award Show and Installation of Officers takes place at 7:00 p.m. Reservations are available at $45.00 per person by using PayPal at www.cccouncilpta.org, or mail your check – payable to CCCPTA – to Patricia Garcia, 10418 Culver Blvd. #6, Culver City, CA 90232. As an added note, the Culver City Sister City Committee will be one of the honorees to receive the Golden Oak Service Award (GOSA), given to recognize an individual or organization that has made significant contributions to the welfare of children and you in a school or community!
You have just a few hours left to buy $150.00 tickets to the Culver City Education Foundation’s “Tribute for the Stars,” set for Saturday, May 6 at The Culver Studios. Prices will go up at midnight, THIS Monday, April 24! A cocktail reception begins at 6:30 p.m., with the Awards Presentation at 7:30 p.m. (The pre-ceremony cocktail reception, sponsored by Sorrento’s Italian Market, will feature a raffle for a wine fridge full of wine!). Are you the owner or manager of an apartment building or condominium complex in Culver City? They you’re needed for a survey regarding implementing Plug-in Electric Vehicle (PEV) charging stations in multi-family dwellings. Survey response will help the research team better understand the challenges and opportunities for future site hosts based on different parking situations. Culver City residents are invited to attend a free Smart Gardening workshop this Saturday, April 29 from 9:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Building. No reservations needed – this is an Advanced Workshop (but you don’t have had to attend the Beginning Workshop to learn more about your garden) which will introduce organic gardening, landscaping with native friendly and drought tolerant plants, and integrated pest management (environmental ways to control pests). You can also purchase a backyard or worm composting bin at a discount price at the workshop.
