Kids at Hope Symposium with Antwone Fisher Sept. 7

Fisher-ON-TOP_2Antwone Fisher, award-winning writer, poet and filmmaker, and Rick Miller, founder of Kids at Hope, will visit CCUSD, Robert Frost Auditorium on September 7th to share how HOPE is used as a strategy to achieve success for all children and youth. Kids at Hope is an international organization that studies family, school and community cultures to better understand how children succeed or struggle.
This three-hour event, entitled THE SOUL, SCIENCE AND CULTURE OF HOPE, will explore Antwone’s journey of hopelessness to hope which was the inspiration for Antwone Fisher a major motion picture directed by and starring Denzel
Washington and written by Antwone Fisher. Rick joins Antwone on stage for an
interview and discussion about the themes in the movie and their relationship to
the dynamics of HOPE. Clips from the film will be shown, followed by a
discussion around those themes and how they relate to the science of HOPE.
The symposium concludes with a discussion about the culture of HOPE and how
families, schools, youth serving organizations and communities can implement a
strategy that models how all children can succeed, No Exceptions!
CCUSD and CCEF are thrilled to be partnering this upcoming symposium at the Robert Frost Auditorium from 5:30  to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday September 7, 2016. This FREE evening event is for grownups—no children please. From 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., you will
be able to purchase pizza, snacks and drinks to benefit the Culver City Education Foundation (CCEF) which in turn benefits ALL CCUSD students. The symposium will being at 6:30 and conclude at 8:30.

  1. Wow – what a great idea. Would have loved to attend but it’s too early in the day for me. Hope they have a big turn-out of parents and grandparents!
