Centennial Committee Looks Toward September – Launching the Year of Celebrations

unnamedThe end of the planning is about to be the beginning of the festivities. When the Culver City Centennial Committee met on Tuesday August 16, it was to pull focus towards the events and celebration on the calendar from September 2016 to September 2017.

Even before the invitation has gone out, tickets to the Gala on Oct. 1 at Sony Studios are moving quickly; 360 tickets are already spoken for, and only 500 are available at $125 each. Those who want to see the inside of Sony hospitality should buy tickets now on the website CulverCity100.org. Businesses can also support the gala by buying digital ads that will run through the evening. Guests will get a souvenir stemless wine class with iconic CC buildings etched on the side.

The town will be decked out for the celebration, with 280 street banners to go up featuring art from CCUSD students. There will be three ‘across the street’ banners as well, all in process. Other marketing and branding opportunities include logos for helmets for sports, decals for vehicles and lawn signs. These will be available for a suggested donation of $20 so residents can support the Centennial celebration on the website and at the CCCCC booth at the Fiesta de Ballona. There are currently 50 corporate sponsors, including 20 Platinum ($10,000 +) donors.

Madeline Ehrlich has a group of 8 women making a 30 x 50 quilt of CC iconic sites and the city seal in the middle for the Centennial. They are enjoying the work, she said, could she offer it as their donation to the celebration.

The parade is scheduled for Sept. 24, and there are 40 groups signed on to participate. Marching up CulverBoulevard to end at Parcel B, it will begin a day of celebrations ending with the downtown block party.

September is headed this way quickly, so get involved – go to CulverCity100.org.
