AULA Day of Service Supports Trash 4 Teaching

0c36efa1-34b3-4dcf-9cce-84c981df5daeOn Jan. 18 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day), more than 30 AULA alumni, students, and staff spent the day at T4T.org, a nonprofit organization in Gardena, that “up-cycles” large volumes of surplus manufacturing materials that would otherwise end up in landfills, reimagining the items as educational kits and supplies for teachers and students. The Executive Director of T4T, Leah Hanes, is a three-time Antioch University graduate – she earned her BA and MA from AULA, and a PhD in Leadership and Change from the university.

After Dr. Hanes gave the group a tour of T4T’s amazing facility, the Day of Service volunteers sorted and packaged colorful beads, rolled surgical tape into manageable lengths, and cut and packaged other items. The event was organized by the AULA Alumni Council.
