On November 6, 2015, at West Los Angeles College, the Culver City Symphony Orchestra and the SoCal Symphony Society held its annual Parness Concerto Competition.

The judges, Frank Fetta, CCSO Conductor and Music Director; Lynn Angelbrant, CSO Principal Cello; John Campbell, CCSO Principal Bassoon; Sylvia Mann, CCSO Principal Viola, were very pleased with each participant’s high level performance, and these young musicians must be proud of their accomplishments.

Judging is never easy, and this year’s competition, like others, was filled with very talented and musical participants with outstanding performances.
We thank these young musicians for their hard work and dedication. We look forward to seeing and hearing them in the orchestra’s future competitions.

And thank you to parents and guardians who shepherd the young musicians to the competition.

Thanks also to the teachers and accompanists for turning the competition into a very exciting and satisfying day.

Winners and an Honarable Mention will be performing with the orchestra Saturday, April 2, 2016, 8:00PM, Veterans Memorial Auditorium. This is a very popular concert, and one you should not miss.

And do not forget our upcoming December 5, 2015, 8:00PM concert at Veterans Memorial Auditorium featuring last year’s Young Adult Winner, Alexander Agate, performing the Piano Concerto, No. 1, by Prokofiev. Music by Humperdinck and Tchaikovsky complete the program. LINK
