The Willows Community School Books Marc Brackett on “Emotional Intelligence”

r0_0_4928_3285_w1200_h678_fmaxThe Willows Community School proudly announces an evening with Marc Brackett, Director of the Yale Center of Emotional Intelligence and co-creator od RULER, an evidence based approach to social, emotional learning, on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 7:00 p.m at The Willows Community School, 8509 Higuera Street, Culver City, 90232.

His talk, which is entitled “Emotional Intelligence: From Theory to Everyday Practice” will be followed by a Q & A. This event is free and open to the public. Reservations are required.
“Emotions matter, and they matter a great deal in school.” states Mr. Brackett. “Everyone needs
emotional intelligence and opportunities to be brave and kind.” Mr. Brackett will share the theory of emotional intelligence developed at Yale and how creating emotionally intelligent communities can help build a happier, healthier, more productive, compassionate society. He takes 20 years of research into the classroom to explore how emotions matter for a student’s academic performance, conflict resolution and bullying, health, and success. Mr. Brackett is also a senior research scientist in psychology and faculty fellow in the Edward Zigler Center in Child Development and Social Policy at Yale University and serves on numerous research advisory boards including CASEL, Lady Gaga’s
Born This Way Foundation, and the Greater Good Science Center.
