13-225x300From Elaine Hirohama and Nancy Kuechle, co-presidents of the Culver City Friends of the Library, comes the invitation to welcome Culver City Fire Department members for their next Storytime, set for this Tuesday, November 4th at 7:00 p.m. at the Culver City Julian Dixon Library, 4975 Overland Avenue. As always, a fun arts and craft project will follow the story.

We THINK her episode may be on this week: Mallory Nicholas (aka Mallory Low), fitness counselor at the Culver-Palms Family YMCA but also a full-fledged actress, will be appear on this Thursday evening’s “How To Get Away With Murder,” 10:00 p.m. on ABC-TV as a student. She did so well, they’ve asked her if she’ll do another episode! Go, Mal!!

Dance fans, this weekend is for you! On Friday, November 7 and Saturday, November 8 at 8:30 p.m. the Donna Sternberg & Dancers will present “One Song, Many Dances” at the Ivy Substation, 9060 Venice Blvd. This is “one musical composition by renowned world music composer Yuval Ron interpreted by six culturally diverse dance companies.” You’ll see the Arpana Dance Company, Donna Sternberg & Dancers, Esplendor Dance Company, Kara Mack, Mandala DanceWorks and Wilfried Souly in action, and we’re betting your head will spin. East Culver City here we come: as you can see, construction is now underway (and spaces are being quickly snapped up) at Culver City’s outdoor fashion and foodie hub, The Platform, slated to open in Spring 2015. Located across from the Culver City Expo Line station, the upscale development has already inked deals with French label Carven and sandal star Matt Bernson, both opening their very first LA boutiques at the Westside shopping center. The complex will also include Robertson retailer Curve’s 7,000-square-foot lifestyle shop and Aussie apothecary brand Aesop.

Attention all you hosers (check your Canadian dictionary for the translation): A delegation from our Canadian Sister City, aka the Lethbridge Twinning Society will be arriving this Wednesday, November 5th to celebrate the 25th anniversary of being Culver City’s Sister City! There’ll be enjoying Culver City restaurants, eh?
