Dear Editor – Correction on “Upward Bound” Timeline

Dear Editor,
Regarding the Upward Bound facility on Washington Blvd. & Beethoven St. in West Culver City (L.A. 90066) Upward Bound may indeed have been helping homeless families since 1991, but not in Culver City (their main facility is in Santa Monica). The conditional use permit for the Culver City location was issued by the Planning Commission on October 24, 2007. It took approximately another 2 years for that facility to become ready for occupancy.

I fully support the work of this philanthropic organization and live within 5 blocks of the location. I can vouch for the fact that they are excellent neighbors and provide a much needed service to homeless families. They have only been actively doing it in Culver City, however, since 2009.
