West Basin to Offer Fall Festival – Oct. 25

fall_festival1West Basin Municipal Water District (West Basin) presents the 16th Annual Water Harvest Festival on Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. This free community event will take place at the world renowned Edward C. Little Water Recycling Facility located at 1935 S. Hughes Way in El Segundo. The event offers free water recycling tours, games, food, kids’ costume contest, grand prize drawing and much more.

“As we head into our fourth year of a critical drought we want to encourage everyone to use only the water they absolutely need,” said President Donald L. Dear. “The Festival is a great opportunity to bring communities together to learn how West Basin and our community partners are working together to ensure a reliable water supply for future generations.”

West Basin’s Water Harvest Festival provides the community the opportunity to take a tour of the only plant in the world that produces five different types of recycled water. Visitors can get a behind-the-scenes look of the recycling facility that has recycled more than 150 billion gallons of water and see first-hand how wastewater is purified into drinking water quality. This year’s theme “Plant the Seeds Now for our Water Future Tomorrow,” resides with California residents as they prepare to enter into the fourth year of a serious drought that affects more than 37 million people. This event will educate the community on day-to-day water conservation that will encourage them to become more efficient with their water use.

The more than 30 booths include Surfrider, Trash for Teaching, Metropolitan Water District, LA Water Keeper, stage shows presented by Discovery Cube, a professional pumpkin carver, carnival games, pony rides, reptile petting zoo, face painting and raffle prizes. Raffle prize winners will be announced throughout the event with a grand prize of an energy-efficient washer and dryer. To be eligible, guests must be a resident of West Basin’s service area and present to win. One entry is allowed per guest.
