181273672568Bikie Girl Bloomers is partnering with Chubby’s Bikes to kick off the beginning of Summer with a free clinic, social bike ride, & party. You are welcome to join in some or all of the fun, and support two local, women-owned businesses.

2:00-3:00 p.m. Confident City Cycling Clinic (FREE) – We will go over what you need to know to get around town by bike: how to deal with a flat tire; skills for riding city streets; how to plan your route.

Understand your rights and duties when operating a bicycle on public roadways.

Develop the ability to assess different traffic situations and make decisions that can prevent crashes and collisions.

Learn how to position yourself in the lane and ride with traffic, as well as how to share bike lanes and paths with other users.

Learn how to perform pre-ride bike safety check and basic roadside repairs, such as fixing a flat tire and minor mechanical adjustments.

Plan your trips for commuting and running errands, by using tools to choose the best route and knowing what to bring & wear.

3:00-5:00 p.m. Social Ride – we will explore nearby areas the way you never get to by car in this easy, socially paced bike ride. Open to cyclists of any skill level; no rider left behind. Bring your helmet (or purchase one at Chubby’s).

The 9.5 mile route is a pleasant loop that will take us past 3 parks, some geodesic domes, gorgeous tree-lined streets, Culver Studios, the incomparable Museum of Jurassic Technology, the historic Culver Hotel, the Hayden Tract, finishing with a cruise along the Ballona Creek Bike Path as we return to Chubbys Bikeshop.

5:00-6:30 p.m. Trunk Show & Party – Get a sneak peek at samples of the new styles Bikie Girl Bloomers has in the works, plus try on some styles from our introductory line. Pre-orders & purchases will support their campaign to fund production of new styles (to learn more, see: plumalley.co/en/grow-bikie-girl-bloomers). All are welcome to join the celebration. Appetizers & beverages, plus some swag and a drawing for a free pair of Bikie Girl Bloomers shorts!

Bikie Girl Bloomers provides women with versatile shorts and skirts that encourage bike riding as a seamless part of everyday life. The company was founded in 2012 by local patent attorney, Karen Canady, to solve the problem of what to wear for her bike commute to the office. The clothing line is produced in the Los Angeles garment district using locally-sourced fabrics.
