Kids and Tech – Workshop for Parents

Kids-Targeted-5The Culver City Office of Child Development’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC) and the Farragut Fan Club will welcome Lori Getz, Cyber Education Specialist, for a workshop and open discussion about our relationship with technology and Internet safety.

The workshop – “Our Relationship with Technology” – will begin at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 11 in the Farragut Cafetorium at 10820 Farragut Drive.

Topics will include:

Quality vs. quantity – setting the right precedent & finding balance for screen time
What constitutes a private vs. public sharable moment
Friending vs. Over-friending – the difference between real & “online” friends
At what age does your child need access to electronic devices
How to talk to kids about digital drama (cyber bullying)
Internet addiction & multitasking behavior
What’s next for the iGeneration

Come ready with your questions. Even the most tech savvy parent will learn something new! Childcare and pizza for children will be provided.

Lori Getz, M.A., is an educator, mother, and Internet safety expert. She has appeared on the “Dr. Phil Show,” “Today,” “HLN,” “Dr. Drew” and several other local news and radio programs (including the Ryan Seacrest show on KIIS FM). She often lectures live, speaking to parents, teachers and students across the country.
