Culver City Loses a Hero – Kathy S. Smith

After a courageous battle with cancer and lifelong multiple sclerosis, Kathy S. Smith passed away at Cedars Sinai Hospital on Thursday, September 26, 2013. Kathy was a loving wife and a dedicated friend. After a career in broadcast advertising, Kathy became a passionate and effective advocate for people with disabilities, animal rights and other civil rights causes. She is survived by her husband, Steve Bauer, her brother Steve Smith, her beloved nieces, and a large circle of dear friends spread throughout the world. Kathy will be remembered for her sparkling humor, her positive attitude in the face of any adversity, her deep and unfailing desire for justice, her generous spirit and her warm and enthusiastic hugs.

Pictured here with her dog Josh, she was always happy to share her optimism with anyone she felt might need some inspiration.

To celebrate her life, a memorial service for Kathy will be held Sunday, September 29 at  noon at Hillside Memorial (hillsidememorial.org/) in Culver City, with a reception following for family and friends.
