The Last Summer Symphony – Aug. 22

If you have been enjoying Thursday nights filled with music, you don’t have to stop yet- the final concert of the Marina del Rey Summer Symphony music festival at the water’s edge is August 22, 2013, 7PM, featuring Rufus Choi performing the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto, No. 1, “Scheherazade” by Rimsky-Korsakov and Igor Stravinsky’s wonderfully off-beat “Circus Polka.”

The first rehearsal with Rufus Choi reacquainted the orchestra with this superb pianist. He plays things close to the keyboard, but the sound certainly comes out of the piano making for a tremendous sound. Photos from rehearsals are below. Mr. Choi will be selling his CDs after the performance at the orchestra table.

Now is the last time this summer to enjoy a concert at the water’s edge, Burton Chace Park, Marina del Rey, in one of most beautiful settings in town to hear Classical Music.

If you like the grand Pacific Ocean and SoCal beach feeling, this is the place to get away. Watch the boats in the Marina and the clouds move inland, feel the ocean air on your face, and tune out the day and tune in to great music.

Bring a picnic, a jacket, a hat, a blanket to sit on, and if you bring a chair, please make sure it has a low back to not obstruct the view of those behind you.
