Summer vacation it’s just around the corner and you haven’t had the chance to enroll your kid in camp. Don’t despair – Culver City has all sorts of different types of camps available, filled with fun activities. You can choose from fencing, cooking, playing sports or even preparing for next school year. We have listed the camps in Culver City that still have available spots. But get busy ! School’s out next week !

The YMCA has a series of different camps for all tastes. There’s three day camps at two different locations, Discovery & Adventure Camp at the Palms Elementary School and the Explorer & Voyager Camp at El Rincon Elementary School, both of this Camps are for kids grades Kinder to 5th and run from 9 AM to 4 PM (there’s extended care for $20 a week). The cost is $140 per week for facility members and $155 per week for program members. There’s also a $50 registration fee. The Good Times camp is also at El Rincon Elementary, this one is for 6th to 9th graders and goes for $155 per week or $185 depending on the membership.

As far as Resident Camps there’s the Adventure Camp design for the bigger kids, grades 9 to 12. It starts on August 7th and ends August 19th. The kids will tent camp at five different campsites, visiting Seattle, Portland and San Luis Obispo, among others. The campers will be expected to cook their own meals and will experience new adventures outside California. This camp costs $800 for facility members and $850 for program members.

Camp Whittle is designed for the younger crowd, 3rd to 8th grades. A fun week camping filled with activities like swimming, canoeing and riding the banana boat at the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains. The camp starts on June 30th and ends July 7th .The price for this one is $460 to $560 for the week.

STAR offer a variety of day camps and there’s still room in most of them. Each camp takes place in a different locations, they’re divided by themes and you can customize the experience and mix and match. The kids, Kinder to 6th grade will be divided by age on groups of 12 to 1 ratio. There’s the Eco camp, the Rock Star (3 Weeks), Boys will be boys, Everything girly, Glee Stars, sports, science, arts and languages, among many others. The City offers two different day camps run by city staff and various specialty camps run by independent contractors.

Just 4 kids
Children 5 to 10 years of age who want to take part in a variety of activities including arts & crafts, sports, nature activities, organized games and field trips. Sign up at the Recreation Office located at Veterans Park, 4117 Overland Avenue. The fees are $135 per week for residents and $166 per week for Non-residents. The camp runs from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM with a morning extended care option for $26. The camp starts June 25 through August 31, 2012.

Teen Camp
The Camp is offered to youth ages 11 to 14 years of age. Camp activities include arts & crafts, sports, nature activities, organized games and field trips. Sign up at the Recreation Office located at Veterans Park, 4117 Overland Avenue. But the actual Camp Location is at 4153 Overland Avenue in the Teen Center. The Fees are $114 per week for residents and $146 per week for non-resident with a morning extended care option for $26 The camp hours are form  9:00 AM to 6:00 PM And goes from June 25 through August 31, 2012.

Monteverde Camp (one week)

This camp is designed for children 5 to 10 years 11months old. It’s only one week long from June 25th to June 29th. The cost is $180 for the week if you are a resident or $11 more if you are not. It’s run by the City Recreation Staff and it will have a variety of enrichment classes, running from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

1st Class Kids Camp

For the younger adventurers (3 1/2 years to 6 years 11months) who would like to stay a couple of days home, can choose to go to the 1st class Camp on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays, starting June 25th until July 6th from 9 am to 1 pm. It’s run by City Recreation Staff and it cost $215. If you would rather go the whole week from Monday to Friday, the cost is $290.

Kids Time

Kids time starts on Monday, July 2 and finishes on Thursday August 2nd. It’s also an enrichment program design for kids 3 1/2 years to 5 years 11months. It’s only half a day from 9 AM to 12 PM and it costs $300. Hurry because there’s not many spots available left for this camp.

Temple Akiba has a camp that provides a strong Jewish foundation including Kabbalat Shabbats and Israeli dancing, but you don’t have to be Jewish to participate. The day camp it’s for kinder to 10th graders filled with fun activities, from swimming, sports and art. There’s a minimum of 3 weeks registration but they don’t have to be consecutive. The prices for this camp depend on how many weeks you go and also if you are a member. There’s a teen program and a CIT (Counselor in Training) program also. The temple also offers a residents camping experience for children ages 7 to 15 years old, where the campers will go hiking, swimming, and a variety of creative activities in Santa Barbara.

The Pre National Camp Summer National Preparation
This clinic is designed to prepare kids for the nationals, to bring them up to peak levels to compete. Fence, get competitive, and be ready. they’ be using foil, epee and saber. The cost is $350.00 per week.

Summer Fun En Guard!
This camp is designed for those who would like to try out fencing. The camp includes all the equipment that the fencers will need for the week. The fencers will learn how to parry, thrust and compete with other beginning fencers. There will be beach days training also! Campers interested in continuing will be offered a 50% discount for BHFC Classes in August.

The Gymnastics Camp
The kids will be placed in groups based on their ability. Aside from gymnastics, the kids will be taken to the pool on Wednesdays. It’s run week by week starting June 18th through September 7th, from 9 AM to 3 PM. After care is available for $12.50 an hour and lunch for $7

The Rhytmic Gymnastics costs $60 per day and the times and day vary depending on the coach you choose. After care is available until 6 PM

The Cheer Camp
They will teach your kid the fundamentals of cheerleading, increasing flexibility, coordination, team cooperation and self-esteem. Open from 9 AM to 3 PM to kids ages 5 to 18 years old. It costs $300 for the week starting on July 16th to July 20th.

The Special education Camp has a combination of gymnastics, fun activities and field trips to delight and motivate your child all summer long. It runs from 8 AM to 11 AM, Monday through Friday, from July 9th to August 17th. You can pay $100 per day or $500 for the whole week.

Jym-Tastics™ Camp (ages 3-5)

JAG’s Jungle Jym-Tastics camp mixes a day of gymnastics with other age appropriate activities great for the pre-school and kindergarten child. Camp days include story time and craft periods between gymnastics classes, giving our younger students the energy to go the full day.

TeRRiFiCC™ Camp (ages 5-8)
JAG’s school age camp spends more time in the gym than our younger campers. The day will include physical theme activities as well as a daily craft project. Students also experience camp-only events such as bouncer day (imagine our 24,000 square foot facility with inflatables throughout). As with our other camps, JAG camp is available any time your school is out of session.

Tween/Teen Gym Camp (ages 9+)
Is your child “too cool” for camp? JAG’s Tween/Teen camp is for them. Filled with age-appropriate gymnastics instruction, the students spend the full day in the gym. Our older age group focuses on skills and drills to create better gymnasts, while giving extra responsibility to our students in helping create their own work-out. Our older students who love working with children also have the opportunity of joining our Counselor-In-Training (CIT) program. CIT’s learn basic spotting and teaching technique while working with a JAG trained coach on a group of younger students. CIT’s are given the most responsibility of our campers and in return can reap the greatest benefits.

Boys & girls ages 6 through 15 will see definite results with pro/college instruction. This will be a fun and yet challenging baseball/softball combine, which will enhance young players’ on-field abilities. The camp starts on June 25th through August 31st. It meets from Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 3 PM at BILL BOTTS FIELD (Culver City Park). The enrollment fee is $190 per week or $710 for 4 weeks pre-paid. It also offers half an hour morning and after care for no additional cost. ($10 of each registration at Action Baseball will benefit the Culver City Little League Field Maintenance Fund.)

This camp will take place at the Culver City High School where boys & girls in grades 3rd to 8th will cover the basics skills in throwing, catching, fielding, hitting, bunting, base running, and instructional games. The low Coach/Player ratio ensures that each player will receive personal attention while having fun improving their baseball skills. It starts on June 25 through July 23rd (no camp Day of 4th of July) from 9 AM to 2 PM. The cost for this camp is $135 per 5-day week or $110 on 4th of July Week.

In this soccer camp your child will develop individual skills through training exercises and small games. There’s two option for tho camp, half a day or full day. In the afternoons the kids will learn more tactical practices in a game situation. The Actors’ Gang offers two one-week summer camps for Teens and Pre-teens at The Ivy Substation in Culver City. The one-week camps are perfect for both the beginning actor and the most advanced actor and are designed for students who are interested in exploring all aspects of creating theatre. Each camp is divided into a morning and afternoon session, which are taught by Actors’ Gang teaching artists and professional actors. Musical Theatre
Children ages 6-17 (Session I) or ages 7-17 (Session II) will have a blast rehearsing and performing three fabulous Broadway-style musicals this summer during a two 4-week summer sessions!  Daily activities include acting, dance, and singing instruction, arts and crafts, outdoor play, swimming and surprise guest artists. This youth dance program is open to ages 5-18 and offers dancers the opportunity to perform in various arenas and sporting events! They offer one day camps to do amazing art projects, like drawing, mixed media, sculpting and collages, among other fun activities, for ages K -13.  Hours are 10 AM to 3 PM, Monday through Friday and the cost is $110 per day or $455 per week. $50 non refundable registration fee is required to save your spot. Each week your child will experience a different theme in the kitchen, Mexican, Italian and even Vegetarian. They will teach the kids to cook from scratch and the classes are between 10 to 12 children to 4 instructors. They provide all the ingredients and you can take the recipes home so you can try them too. It’s only half a day from 9:15 AM to 12:15 PM. Each week is divided by age group from 6 to 10 years old and 11 and up. The cost is $415 and they give 10% sibling discount.

Each morning the day begins with academics in Math and English to keep student’s mind fresh for the upcoming school year. In the afternoon it’s all fun and games; the students will go on local field trips daily and once a week they’ll go on a major field trip. Camp starts on June 25th and it ends August 24th and runs from 7 AM to 6 PM without extended care fees. The kids 5 to 14 years old will be divided by age groups. The registration fee is $85 per child and the weekly fee is $165 plus $25 for the field trips. You can also add art, culinary, summer olympics or dance to the experience for an extra fee.

This camp is design for pre-teen and teen (4th to 7th and 8th to 10th grade group) to learn academic, organizational and strategic skills to succeed in middle and high school. Each camp is $325 and $250 for siblings. There’s a maximum of 10 students per class and there’s a new camp each week, so you can mix and match depending on your kid’s needs. There’s book club, tools for middle and high school and back to school boot camp. All camps are from 9 AM to 1 PM.
