Looking for some delightful theater to enjoy with the whole family ? Two show from Dee-Lightful productions are coming up this week, so head on over to Vets and enjoy the young actors of Culver City in Bugsy Malone and Dear Edwina.
Bugsy Malone, Jr., is a wacky spoof 1920’s gangster life in New York City, where rival gangs use silly string to fight their battles! With a score by the composer of “The Muppet Movie,” this show follows the attempts of regular guy Bugsy Malone to make peace between rival gangs headed by nightclub owner Fat Sam and New York City bad guy, Dandy Dan. There’s lots of singing, dancing, mayhem and fun for the whole family!
Dear Edwina, Jr., tells the story of midwesterner Edwina Spoonapple, who dispenses advice from her garage with the help of her friends. Kids from all over write to Edwina for help with problems like obnoxious brothers, or not wanting to eat yucky food, or being new in town. Edwina and her friends answer each letter in a musical skit which offers advice to the letter-writers in a fun, upbeat manner, with great songs and costumes. This show is particularly good for younger audience members, who will appreciate seeing other young kids perform, and who will be able to identify with the characters.
All performances are at Veterans’ Auditorium at 4117 Overland Avenue in Culver City with plenty of free parking in adjacent lots. Single show ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for kids 14 and under, $5 for seniors 65 and over, and CCUSD employees are free. Double-feature ticket prices are $15 for adults and $12 for kids 14 and under. For more info, please visit us at www.dee-lightful.org.
