CCUSD Seeks Applicants for “EE” Oversight Committee

The Culver City Unified School District Board of Education is currently seeking applications to establish a Citizens’ Oversight Committee as required by the passage of Measure EE Parcel Tax and Board Resolution 4/2010-2011 approved on September 14, 2010.

The applications are available on the Culver City Unified School District website and can be submitted through October 1. All applicants are asked to provide their professional resume, together with the application form and any other information they may deem relevant.

Applications will be considered valid for a period of one year from the date of receipt, unless withdrawn by the applicant. The Board of Education will seek applications to fill vacancies on the Committee.

In addition, due to an ongoing interest by community members and parents, several school districts have founded resident-led environmental task forces that advise and work with District staff on a range of environmental issues, including state and federal regulations and programs, transportation, water, renewable energy, safe routes to school, recycling, nutrition, school gardens, solar energy, environmental education. On July 27, 2010, the Board of Education approved the formation of an Environmental Sustainability Committee by the Interim Superintendent.

The Environmental Sustainability Committee will have a formal selection process and regularly scheduled meetings. To appoint the Environmental Sustainability Committee, the Interim Superintendent will advertise and have an application form online on the Culver City Unified School District website.

The Board of Education and the Interim Superintendent will review the applications and resumes and appoint seven (7) Environmental Sustainability Committee representatives for a two (2) year term based on their qualifications and experience, diversity of expertise and any other demonstration of interest in “green” and /or sustainability development issues.

All members of both committees will be asked to sign a Conflict of Interest Pledge.

The Board of Education will review all applications and resumes during the week of October 4, 2010. The Citizens’ Oversight Committee and the Environmental Sustainability Committee representatives will be appointed by the Board of Education on October 12, 2010.
